A new school year has begun and 3RC have made a fantastic start to learning in Year 3.
We have been really busy making new friends in our co-operative groups . Meet the Purple Kittens , Swimming Noodles, Footballing Snakes, T.V. Turtles, Footballing Tigers, Muscle Lions and Super Cool Kids!
World Maths Day begins at 11 am today and finishes on Wednesday at 11am. There is a school prize for the best class and best pupil, so here we are trying to win. It is great fun and really helps to improve our mental maths skills. Every child has their own password so please encourage your child to log on at home. Good Luck Everyone!
We have been investigating shapes this week . In maths we have been counting vertices , edges and faces of 3D shapes. The Shape Wizards in the class are going to make video to help us. In PE we had great fun making different shapes as we practised balancing.
We had a fantastic day celebrating the Chinese New Year . We began by Ribbon Dancing which is not as easy as it looks!! We even had new teachers Iman, Emilia and Emily gave a wicked Mandarin lesson! Then it was over to Jonathan and James who organised the treasure hunt for us, it was great fun helped us to learn the Chinese numbers! We used the netbooks to find out more about Chinese culture. We loved making the Zodiac Fortune Wheel and the lanterns. One of the highlights of the day was eating noodles with chopsticks. We all agreed that Gurvir was the master of chopsticks.Kung hei fat choi!!
We had a very different start to the week when we took part in a golf lesson. It was great fun and will be running as an after school activity club soon.
We had a really brilliant day at The Butterfly Farm on Tuesday, where we began to learn about the Rainforests and the animals and birds that live there. We walked through the humid hot houses imagining we were in a rainforest. During this term we will be learning about the importance of the rainforests to the plane. Parents, you can help the children by reading any non-fiction books about the rainforests and animals with them. so please check out your local libraries!
Year 3 are enjoying exploring the world of Myths and Legends.Please support the children by sharing any myths or legends with them . e2bn.org/mythsandlegends is a fun site to explore. Don’t forget you can earn an extra playtime on Friday by reading three times a week ! This week in maths we are training to be Multiplication Masters – starting with the two times table.
